Sarah Long is an artist based in Cork. Her work focuses on suppressed female archetypes, the politics of representation, nationhood, and myth through the lens of feminism.  Long’s first novella, W/w, was published by Bloomers in 2024. Her painting installation Seven Ways To Get Back was selected for Periodical Review 14 at Pallas Projects/Studios in 2024-25 and was informed by elements of the art writing that led to W/w. She also presented live, multimedia iterations of W/w at Backwater Artists Group, Cork City; CCA Theatre, Glasgow; and Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh, Cork.

Recent solo shows include SO Fine Art Editions, Dublin (2025); South Tipperary Arts Centre, Clonmel (2025); St Luke’s Crypt, Cork (2023). Recent group shows include At first / I was Land curated by Niamh Browne at Backwater Artist Group and Land Of Some Other Order curated by Paul McAree at Lavit Gallery, Cork (2020).

In 2023, Sarah was the inaugural Critic in Residence at Sirius Arts Centre. She holds an MLitt in Art Writing from Glasgow School Art and a BA in Fine Art from Crawford College of Art & Design. Her awards include an Arts Council Agility Award and the John Calcutt Prize for Critical Writing from Glasgow School of Art.
