Emma works within an undisciplinary, expansive artistic and curatorial practice. Having studied sociology, Emma’s work assumes a top-down approach, exploring emancipatory sociological and philosophical theory through conceptualisation, collaboration, material and object.
Holding this ideological framework, Emma has gravitated towards researching and contributing to artist-led spaces, projects and learning outside of traditional systems. As a Co-Director of the artist-led, voluntary-run space Catalyst Arts, Emma has co-curated a variety of projects as part of a non-hierarchal board. Emma has recently been awarded the Jonathan Ruffer Curatorial Grant, a-n Artist Bursary & her work has been shown at Belfast Photo Festival, Arcade Studios, Digital Art Studios & Platform Arts.
centralised planning invites the viewer to lift their gaze upwards and see the cultural, political and social structures that govern our lives. An almost-manifesto, part material assemblage, centralised planning reckons with the hostile design structure of late-stage capitalism, outlining interlinking injustices and awaiting the observer's response.
